Default Value betting nut no pair...odd line

stars 30/60.

can't get HH's correctly downloaded so here it goes.

unknown but clearly bad player is the villian.

i have AK UTG and raise (if they've been paying attention i've been playing 12% of the hands dealt to me). i get 3 bet by the villian. i decide to call.

flop comes Q83 suites irrelavent.

i check and call intending to checkraise a blank turn.

turn comes 5. thank you turn. i check, villian checks. ok now i'm pretty sure i know his exact two hole cards: AJo. i decide to bet any rive and expect a value call from him on any non jack river.

river is T for a board of Q835T. i bet.

comments?

-Baron

I dont mind the bet, but i dont think you are necessarily ahead. But it doesnt seem like he has a holding strong enough to raise, and since you are going to call him down anyway, why not bet. He could easily have 22, 44, 66, 77, A-10 and really, the only hand you can beat is AJ, KJ. I don't think you betting or checking really matters here.

If your checkraise on the turn got called, river plans on a blank?

There are definitely spots for a river value bet with AK but I am not sure that this is one of them. It might be but I am not sure that I could so accurately put this guy on AJ after he checks the turn. You also have to be pretty certain that he would call with it. Finally, that Ten is a bad card if he in fact has AT which he might.

Anyway, great value bet if it worked...heh

Are you saying it was a bad bet if he got called and lost?

D-

after that river, do you think there is a greater chance he will call you with AJ, or that he will bet that AJ if checked to?

Obviously the former.

Easy there,guys:

I included the interjection "heh" in my response for a reason: Obviously, whether the bet was good is not dictated by the results.

then you bluffed with the best hand. i really dont like the value bet on this river. it seems to me that villain will have you beat with a hand that he intended to check down more often than he will call you with AJ.
