Question about bookies

So I gotta give an informative speech for a class. Figured I'd talk about how to be a bookie. Found all the information I need except the legalities of it. I know its illegal, but what types of charges could a bookie face, and waht type of sentance could they recieve. I"m in IL for what its worth. Thanks in advance

gambling laws in US on google, You should find a nice webpage with info in every state. Bookies in most places have no fear, they are not going to be prosecuted, my local DA played in the WSOP last year, you think he is going to go after gamblers? He bets games himself.

Found it. Thanks. Syndicated gambling sounds sorta serious. Would take you up on the offer to add to my paper, but since its a speech, all I have is an outline, and its due in like, 12 hours from now. Thanks though

Speach went well...B+. Thats for the thoughts. After class 2 guys from the class came up to me and asked if I was really a bookie. I smiled and told them we'd talk on monday
