I agree. The jump from 1/2 to 2/4 is a bigger gap difference. At 2/4 I find that I have to select my tables more carefully. Nothing worst than sitting in with 6 other TAGS already salvating over 2 weaker players.

I hear that if you make the same BB/100 at 1/2 that you do at .5/1, you double the amount of money you make. I think. [/ QUOTE ] Well, that's a mathematical certainty no? |

Depends upon what you're wanting out of poker. I zipped through .50/1 and began okay in 1/2. Then went on a 200BB downswing.
Over 25k hands I was down -.50BB/100. I'm learning more about table selection and stepping up my play. If you have a 6bb/100 win rate in .50/1 and are content there, I'd stay another 10k hands and multi-table a few more tables and see how things go. If you're wanting to improve your game and play a better player then head to 1/2 with 150BB's and see what happens for you. In my opinion, I see quite a difference between .50/1 and the 1/2 tables and I'm looking to forward to making the jump to 2/4 soon. |

[ QUOTE ] do u reccommend skipping 1/2 and going right on into 2/4? or taking the roll to a place where 1/2 is the minimum? ie:crypto [/ QUOTE ] Not at all. 1/2 will give you some very good practice at many different situations. I am finding poker so much fun again playing at 1/2. I had a rough first 500 hands. But I re-read SSHE and started to actually see the different situations play out in the next 1500 hands at the level. Now instead of "book X tells me to do this", I am starting to see WHY they suggest that type of play. At .5/1 these lessons might have been there, but they were sure harder to spot. What I like most about 1/2 is there is a good variety of players. You will find you 50-75% VPIP's, you will find rocks, you will find fellow TAGS. The table dynamic will change and you will be forced to evaluate that to get the most EV out of your hands. I think the move from .5/1 to 2/4 would be a mistake, but I am sure people have done it as from what I have read 2/4 is easier than 1/2. Right now that is really not what is most important for me. What is most important is to become a really good player, and make my mistakes when the mistakes are still pretty cheap. /bd [/ QUOTE ] Well said and my experience exactly. |

I have two questions on this topic.
1. About how much tighter are the tables at Party 1/2 than .5/1? 2. Would playing on tight tables at Party .5/1 be similar to what is typical of Party 1/2? TomBk |

at 1/2 you will find it a lot harder to get juicy games. At 50/1 you can virtually just sort by pot size

[/ QUOTE ] 1. .5/1 - Seen flop 42.68% 1/2 - Seen flop 35.55% 2. I don't think so. But maybe. In my limited experince, even the tight tables at .5/1 are very passive. You will find more agression at the 1/2 tables. |
