i too would like non-denoms; although i'm not locked into it, i like it for flexibility and timelessness (think 50 years from now, grandchildren, and so on).

but i like 2 color edgespots. assuming a clean design (no doubt there, considering who's designing), i can't see that 2 color spots is gonna clutter things up.

i agree that simpler colors are better.

If you're going for a truly old school look then subdued colors are the way to go. Dayglo just says "modern chip" to me.

As far as edgespots, I think they should be absent on any chip under $1, then the $1 gets a single color edgespot... there may be 5 or 8 of these single color spots though. As you progress to the $5, three two color edgespots, $25 might have four two color edgespots, and the lovely black chip could have three (or two) three color edgespots or whatever. Those are just some random ideas but I definitely like when the old-school chips have different edgespots because that's how it ends up in a casino, especially after a decade or so when they order more chips. Identical style edgespots just scream "consumer grade chips" to me.

Another design that I would love to own is the "four slice" colors (think BMW badge), especially in a mustard/off white or a mustard/brown combo. That's some serious hotness there. If it didn't fit in anywhere I would say the $0.25 chip could use that design.

If/when I get into this group buy I wouldn't want any chip lower than $0.25, even though we use nickels in a few of my games. I would just order some stock plain chips in the same mold for nickels, *possibly* hot stamp them for fun.

As far as denominations, I obviously like them. Yes, they will eventually become obsolete but if you owned an heirloom set now you could still use them... most people just wouldn't use the nickels. I bet our kids will still be playing $0.25 or $1 ante draw poker in 50 years. A days pay will probably increase from $100 to $500. it should still work.

As far as text, I agree that we don't need another fantasy casino set but there has to be some text on it to create a truly old-school look. I'm not really sure what should be done about that... how about, "Don't chase the Brown Trout!"? heh, just kidding.

Yeah, I've really been looking forward to some sort of brown trout motif on a chip set.

"Brown Trout" is the codeword used in games to identify fellow 2+2ers. Someone prompted me with this last night on Party Poker. What I don't know is the correct handshake response.

Well, as my chip count breaks 4000, I really do NEED some more chips. After all, we cant be expected to play with the same lousey set week after week. Put me down for 800 to 1000. (seriously) Hell, I'd buy-in blind w/Ten's projects anyday!

BTW: These are my favorite Paulsons. They have very contrasting colors or very nice graffics. I feel that they should also look good in a rack. Absolute favorite $100 chips is the Dunes. Look great in a rack. Simple elegant inlay, but not as bland as the HomePokerchips.com chips, with very contrasting base color to edgespot combos are my favorites. Notice the Green $25 Dunes chips. Not very impressive with the grey edge spots. And too many of them also. IMO
