Some questions about some starting hands?
Hi Guys,
Just a few questions about starting hands in low limit games. In general.. is it ever right to play 1) QJ offsuit in EP 2) 10J suited in EP 3) QJ suited in EP 4) KJ, K10 offsuit in EP 5) Q10 suited in EP Under which circumstances are these hands playable/unplayable. Thankyou, -MJ |

Re: Some questions about some starting hands?
If there are normally 5+ players to see the flop, play both of these suited hands. If the hands are usually raised/reraised and 2-3 handed on the flop, muck them.
Muck the offsuit hands. |

1) QJ offsuit in EP No 2) 10J suited in EP Yes 3) QJ suited in EP Yes 4) KJ, K10 offsuit in EP No 5) Q10 suited in EP Yes Do you see the pattern here? In the typical low-limit game (i.e. loose passive), the suited hands you mention do fine in early position if there has not been a raise in front of you (an early position raise likely means a hand which dominates QJs etc.). Big suited hands have three ways to win: top pair, straight or flush. Offsuit hands have only two ways to win since they rarely make a flush. Most player on this forum don't go below AJo/KQo in EP. Some are even tighter. A hand like KTo could possibly make money in the hands of an expert against table full of weak players but for the good player in a typical game it is an easy fold. Re: Some questions about some starting hands?
If there is one thing you remember from this, it's to fold KTo without an ounce of regret. It is the king of 2nd best.

Re: Some questions about some starting hands?
Play all suited hands you listed and dump all offsuit hands.
