Default Nicely butchered AK hand.

Party $15/$30, 10-handed.

No notes on the villain in this hand.

MP1 open raises, folded around to me in the BB and I smooth call with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

2 players (2BB)

Flop: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I checkraise, he 3-bets, I call.

2 players (5BB)

Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I check, he bets, I call.

2 players (7BB)

River: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I check, he bets, I call.

Although you are most likely beat by a pocket pair, I see nothing wrong with the call down as you will catch a worse ace and a busted flush often enough to make the call correct.

Why the flop checkraise? The only hands that are folding there or to a follow up on the turn are the ones that are drawing to 3 outs.

Ummm...because I didn't raise preflop?!

I thought I would just call preflop disguising the strength of my hand and come to life postflop, most likely with a flop check raise.

Well the flop completely missed me, but I check raised anyway. I thought I could chase him out of the pot and take it down, since he probably doesn't have a piece of that board.

However, you're right, any pair is unlikely to fold, and why would I want to chase out AQ, KQ, AJ, etc... I should let them keep firing.

So you also like a straight call down then, assuming I don't improve?

Not 3 betting flop was a mistake here. Given where you are post fall, you are grabbing a paddle to the river.

Back to raising preflop, trolling 2+2 has fixed that leak in my game, where I regularly 3 bet from that position if I have no other infomration.

I think check raising the flop you gotta cap it. Check Call line is fine. Before the flop I almost always raise to a raise a hand like AK even if were going heads up. Thoughts?

Why do you want to fold AQ/AJ/AT so badly? You do realize that any pair is calling.

I 3-bet preflop.

Knowing the results having led the flop and been raised, I would call.

i would test his strength by leading the turn, if I got raised I would mostly fold. If I only got called I would check-call the river hoping for a check-through
