Are the Owners of Full Tilt Breaking the Law?

Clearly, playing poker or wagering on the internet violates US law. It's unlikely, however, that the authorities would ever prosecute players. The people profiting from the sites is a different matter though. Typically, the owner and operators avoid prosecution by basing themselves and their companies outside of the US.

Full Tilt, however, is owned by a number of US based pros--Ivey, Lederer etc. Is it a matter of time before these guys get fined or worse?

They have probably never talked to a lawyer about gaming laws. Perhaps you should write them a letter.

I'm just speculating, but I'm pretty sure that Howard, Jesus, and the Full Tilt crew are technically just "software consultants", similar to Annie and Hellmuth at UB.

but they can afford to meet with lawyers, i'd guess. notice how i didn't say clearly.

The pros or at least some of them work for Tiltware, the software company, which must be a way around the law. I'm just guessing, but I would say they have a stake via equity share or profit sharing or just plain abnormally large "consulting" fees.

Was looking over the site and found this : Full Tilt Poker is licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.
Upon further research I found that : The Commission is empowered to regulate and control gaming and gaming related activities conducted within and from the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake in accordance with the highest principles of honesty and integrity.
I don't claim to be an expert about the legalities of the issue but from my bleak understanding Full Tilt is run from within a Native American Territory. Just adding that it's reservation in Canada, south of Montreal.

I wonder what other sites are licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.....? Hmm, maybe the largest, and a few others?
