Default Casino Windsor Trip Report

This poker room blows. Period.

I'll post more later when I get over the rage.

LOL. Looking forward to the (hopefully) more detailed analysis.

It's what I feared. Damn! I'm playing there next week. Maybe skip it and go to Detroit?

OK, here goes:

After getting lost in some of the nice parts of Detroit (are there nice parts? - I'm not from Michigan) we finally got there at I think around 3PM. The floor is so inept that we even called ahead and still didn't get seated at the 5/10 NL until about 7pm. Played some 10/20 which was incredibly good and I don't even play limit. The room is nice, non-smoking and has about 10 tables like they've said, they are going to be putting more tables in so that's definitely a good thing. All of the NL games are max buyin so that's kind of a downer, i.e. the 1/2NL is 100 MAX, the 2/5 NL is 200 MAX and the 5/10 NL is 500 MAX. That being said, these games are incredible SOFT. The 5/10 is populated by I'd say 20 - 35% greektown/motorcity regulars. A few greektown 2/5 NL regulars were playing the 2/5 200MAX buy as well, I don't know what the hell they were doing. I don't know whether it's the short stack or it's a new rooom or what, but over half the 5/10 NL table didn't have a clue. There was a rich maniac to my left all night making it fun as every hand preflop was 40 to go. That's kind of nice with a max buyin here, as he kept getting chopped down and could only rebuy up to 500, if he had 2k in front of him like at greektown, things could have gotten ugly. Anyway, the games look soft, so that's a positive.

As for the negatives:

the 10/20 is raked, so not a big deal, but all the NL games are time charged. I think I got dealt 15 hands an HOUR. Maybe. The dealers are horrible. Most of the time the players were correcting their mistakes be it, missed bets, misdealt cards, screwing up button placement, burning etc... like really bad. I'm not joking. I don't blame them, they have no clue what they are doing, but you should probably give it some time to get it's act together.

As for the floor, wow, what a bunch of imbeciles. They have charts like greektown for waitlists, but they are so disorganized/too many people thinking they are in charge that it takes forever to get a seat. Like I said, I waited hours.

Here's what really got this thread rolling. I am sitting waiting for a NL seat, next on the list, and some VIP walks in and just takes it, after complaining to the floor they finally let me have it, this is after not letting me play over in a seat for some other VIP who went to dinner. He went to dinner for over 2 hours. WTF? Ok, Ok, maybe they treat their players really well, and don't mind. Maybe. So what happens? After sitting in this game for 5 hours, I decide to go to dinner. I am given until 11:45, it's 11PM, they say it shouldn't take longer as there is a buffet. What do you know, the buffet is closed and I have to eat at the restaurant. I get back to the game at 11:52 PM. They have given away my seat, and now I have to get back on the waitlist if I want to play. Are you [censored] kidding me? Why do you think I have come here? It's to get away from Greektown and Motorcity. So that's it. They pretty much left a sour taste in my mouth after that move so we promptly left. Basically, if greektown/motorcity are equally as far, for me they are coming from Ann Arbor, there is no point in going to the windsor game until they get their act together. I've just come to realize that no casino within a 50 mile radius of detroit is going to cater to players. That's about it.

My buddy was there and he said the NL game was $500 min buyin.. no max. He said the action was crazy.. few guys having over 10k. Some guy was pushin his 3k all-in preflop without even looking at his cards. Then he'd stand up on his chair and start screamin.. I'VE GOT BALLS... NONE OF YOU HAVE BALLS!!

How old are you? I know Casino Winsdor always treats younger americans like [censored]. Many times they don't even let you in the place if you are under 25 and don't have like 5 picture Id's

They didn't let a friend of mine in with a valid ID because it didn't look EXACTLY like the picture in their book.

My trip report to Casino Windsor (I have not yet read AZK's)

I call ahead an hour to reserve a seat at the 200NL game. There is no 200NL running. They are running three 100NL games. Fine, throw me on that list. I arrive at the poker room and ask where I am on the list. My name isn't on it. I was placed on the 3/6 limit list. Thanks. After a two hour wait I get a 100NL game.

The dealer's are horrible. Saying I saw 20 hands and hour would be generous. The players are horrible. Saying they know the difference between a flush and straight would be generous. They wear online poker clothing like it is going out of style. They are clowns.

Short story shorter, the poker room is a joke. I will try again this summer. I hope it gets better.

There are nice parts of Detroit but they are still minority neighborhoods, so most people would say they aren't nice.
