glitch in buddy list at party

I recently had a problem on party and had to uninstall, reinstall. Now when I search for buddies the search box is not highlighted. They told me I had to click after the name and hit the spacebar and the search box would be highlighted. Well, it is,only problem is I can only look up 3 or 4 names then I'm out of room in the search box. This happen to anyone else and is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks for any replies,
