Chipco quality control

I recently received a shipment of Chipco's. They look great however when I inspected a small sample of the shipment I noticed a sharp ridge on the side of some of the chips, big enough to catch your fingernail on. In addition there are some with a small nipple on the side of the chip from the manufacturing process but I expect those will go away with play.
Have any of you Chipco owners experienced either of these issues?

Common problems. The 'nipple' issue is well known, but I haven't seen the 'ridge' problem mentioned on here yet(though I have noticed it myself).

In my experience, there are typically 2 ridges about 1/2 inch apart (a 1/2 inch depression is a better description) on the rolling edge . It isn't consistent on my chips (some only have 1 ridge), and the casino Chipcos I have are slightly different still (both ridge & nipple). It has something to do with the way the rolling edge is applied to the chip.

Both the ridge & nipple will not go away with use, and since the chips are 'white' inside, messing with the nipple will only make it worse.

There are several other obscure issues with Chipcos, but most of these problems can be overlooked because of other Chipco advantages...

The ridge and nipples drive me nuts. I'm completely non-plussed at the total lack of "molding" on the face.

The Egyptians are neat looking, but I'd love them if they were real clay.

Art, durablilty, and quite a few security features that you can't do as well with clay.

The only factor that helped my decision was graphics. There's no other chip (casino quality) that would let me do the level of art I wanted except Chipco. I like clay chips too, but my goal was a beautiful Egyptian set, with photographic quality graphics. I could have used clipart/silhouettes on ASM clays, or made labels, but it just wouldn't have been the same.

Like the Egyptians, I don't think the suits would come out as good on anything else. I didn't like chipco chips much until I saw the suits. If you sit there and stare at any chip, you will notice imperfections. Clays routinely have off center or crooked inlays, irregularities with the edge spots etc. You only notice these things if you're sitting there examining the chips.

With the Chipcos, these are all just part of the manufacturing. I have never noticed any of these things unless I REALLY look for them.

I haven't noticed this. This is on the edge of the chip? So if the chip is sitting flat on the table the ridge is perpendicular to the table? Or is it your running your finger nail across the face and it catches on the edge?

This is part of the mfg'ing and the nipple is annoying. I'd think they could (should) fix this before they print the edges. It's more prevalent on some chips and not on others. J5 is right that the nipple will not go away... you could probably file it down but you'd be left with a white spot. The ridge I've not noticed so I'm not sure what it is? It seems the edge printing over laps so maybe this is where the ridge you're speaking of occurs??
