Re: college paper on gambling
it is for composition II, it is a research class, I am going to be using this topic as the basis for the rest of my papers in this class(required) we are supposed to eventually for are last paper bring the topic down to a local issue and propose a change(dosn't have to succeed we just have to have a valid arguement) the issue I have thought about proposing a change for would be that the Casinos in my state(Oklahoma) charge a commission/fee for playing the table games (i.g. in blackjack if you bet $5 on a hand you have to pay a $.50 fee to the casino and $1 for a $10 bet) but I was just looking for some advice on where to start my first of three papers which will be a broader view of gambling/casino gaming in general

Re: college paper on gambling
Well, I'd try working backwards from my final position. I'm guessing that in the final paper you're going to argue against the 10% commission or for an increase in the commission.
So, if you want the three papers preceding it to support your argument, you need to consider the issue of why the commission exists and how it impacts the people who play the games charging the commissions. Perhaps something historical on gambling in the US and in Oklahoma. Followed by something on the social impacts of gambling. Perhaps something on taxes and gambling laws. You can see that this might sound kind of dull, but it should be possible to make it interesting reading. Also, you'll want punctuation in the final paper. :-) Regards, T |

[ QUOTE ]
Also, you'll want punctuation in the final paper. :-) [/ QUOTE ] Learning the difference between "are" and "our" will help, too. At least you didn't write "burrow" when you should have written "burro". That would have proven that you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. |
