Default Are PokerRoom bonuses a waste of time?

Ive got $400 in bonuses pending at pokerroom.

At the moment Im trying to clear the $200 deposit bonus
To do this I need to get 1400 points.

Well
Ive played 2800 hands so far
Of these 2000 were raked

But Ive only got 900 points!

Im playing 1/2 atm but this seems to be a loosing battle.
I think Id be better off at absolute.

Im only playing here for the Bonuses (obviously)
But is it worth it?

It’s a well known fact that the bonuses at PokerRoom and Poker Stars are difficult to clear at low limits because a lot of hands will not get you any points.

Unlike the party skins, where even a losing player can easily turn a profit from a bonus, you really need to be a winning (or at the very least break even) player to make the bonuses at these places worth your while.

I think that you would have to be playing 2/4 or better to clear the bonus in a timely manner. 50 cent raked pots give half a point, it takes a twenty dollar pot to hit a buck in rake which will give you a point.

That said the games aren't bad, however the couple days I've spent on the site were mostly trying to get back into games that had locked up.

PokerRoom bonuses clear much faster at $2-$4 and above, but I usually finish them off by playing blackjack in their casino. The game is supposed to be double-deck with a house advantage of 0.24%, but the variance is high and busting out does not eliminate the wagering requirement as it does at most casinos. If you clear over about 600 points in one day you get a prize of a few dollars, which cuts down on the house advantage further.

They have some nice multitable tournaments, and the bonus gives you a refund of most of the rake on tournament play.

I have been working on clearing the $300 Poker Room signup bonus from Poker Listings. It has taken awhile, but it is going MUCH faster since I bumped up from 1/2 to 2/4. I have found the play to be pretty soft as well, so the fact that it is taking a long time to clear the bonus isn't a bad thing.

You went there instead of the 2+2 classifieds? Shame on you!

Pokerroom bonusses clear rather fast at higher limits. it usually takes me about 5 hour of 3 tabling 2-5 NL to clear 1000 points. That being said it does take a while longer at lower games. But the games are good there, so I think the 300 bonus is surely worth it

I probably should have gone to the classifieds, but it was too good a deal to pass up. The games at Poker Room are good, so I can see myself playing there a bit even after the bonus clears.

IMO, no the PR bonuses are not a waste of time. As others have stated, they clear slower at 1/2, but the games are pretty good. The selection at 2/4 and 3/6 is some what limited. At 2/4, you probably have 4 tables to choose from and at 3/6 there might only be 2.

Overall, I've been pleased with the PR bonuses and continue to do them.

I agree with all, the 2/4 holdem clears much faster. The short handed games even faster if you like those games, since the software is so damn quik.

But I also think the 1/2 7-stud games clears much faster than the 1/2 holdem. And the games seem good, they have a very small ante and many players see the bring-in.

I agree fully with the statement above.

Party (and skins), Crypto sites, and pokerroom are the only sites where I try to do the bonuses.
