Ixtapa, Mexico

My wife and I will be leaving next week for a 7 day vacation in Ixtapa, Mexico. I've done the usual searches online to find out what is available for activities (besides lots of drinking) while we are there. I have limited experience in Mexico, traveling to Mexicali once on business for a day. The only other time is the two stops that the PPM cruise made last year in Cabo San Lucas and La Paz (one day each).

Has anyone been to Ixtapa? Care to share any thoughts, experiences, etc?

My parents are leaving for Ixtapa on Monday for 7 days. I have no other useful information for you.

There's a good marketplace across from the Barcelo Hotel. Also, go to the restaurant (forgot the name) up on the hill. Great view of the area while you dine.

Zihuat is also good for shopping. Check out the booths where they cut up chickens in front of you. Very tasty...
