Default Thin river value bet with second pair on scary board?

The following is from a good 10/20 game.

UTG calls, LP calls, everyone else folds to me in the BB. Both are loose, somewhat passive, unimaginative types. I check with:

Flop:

I bet, both call.

Turn:

I bet, both call.

River:

Does anyone think a razor thin value bet is a good play here?

Against one opponent I think it's definitely a bet. Against two?

I would check against two and even one player. Simply because no hand will call you unless it has you beat. Plus if u check you could probably induce a bluff from a weak hand. Thinking about it now, you could certainly check fold since there aren't many hands out there that are worth calling to the river that dont currently have you beat when that third heart drops.

I'm generally not inclined to push the envelope of value betting when I'm out of position. If you were in position and both these guys checked, you could bet, but out of position I think a bet is generally ill-advised.

These passive types might not have raised the flop with a ten, which would be a factor against value betting. If these players are so passive you can reliably fold if you get raised, despite getting about 9.5:1 on calling the raise, that would be a factor in favor of value betting, but I'm personally not inclined to make laydowns for one bet on the river.

This simply isn't true. Worse hands will call. However, I would check here and probably wouldn't call a bet.

I think the turn should have been checked. The flop bet is a good semi-bluff but when you get called in a couple places, it's time to stop the bluffing.

I think you are right, against one it is a bet, but against two, it is a matter of how well you know these players betting patterns, if you are not sure, check the river and payoff because you might induce a bluff.

Check and call on the river. I think folding is too pessimistic.

While there are no draws out there, a worse nine may bet on the end.

I would check and probably call.
My experience with loose, passive, unimaginative is that once 2 of them call the turn bet, I become concerned about a passively played 10 (maybe awful kicker). I think that 10 is more likely than a hand which I can beat and will call the river.

I checked and it got checked around. My hand was good, no one showed. I'll never know if I missed a bet, or even two, but I assume I did. Still, I think checking was the right play.

Just a minor correction, there was a draw. The flush draw got there on the river.

I agree with your post though.
