Once we have a hundred or so responses, we'll make the decision.

Thanks

Default Hey Mat !

It would be nice if you could fix the problem with anonymous posters !?!

Yes, this is true, people should register in order to be allowed to post; there are too many trolls who feel really strong when anonymous, but I bet they would shut up real quick if given a name everyone could see.

To Mat: Please donīt do this "rise to the top"-thing, canīt imagine that it would be a good idea if the threads are jumping around wildly (or at least make it optional in our profiles if that is possible).

Fishy -

God forbid a thread around here be allowed to have a shelf life beyond 2 days. I think the single biggest problem with these forums is the fact that good threads get buried so quickly by useless ones.

Moving active threads to the top works well for just about every other message board on the internet. In fact, I can't think of one that *doesn't* have active threads go to the top. Somehow I suspect it will work here as well.

I personally visit another forum where active threads move to the top, but Iīve always preferred it the way it is here on 2+2, but that may be just personal preference. As for good threads getting buried: valid point, but I think you can deal with that by using the collapsed mode where just the original thread shows, good overview that way. Anyway, how many responses does a poster need to make him happy? 40? 10 or even less is enough I would say, and you can reach that in two days. If a thread should be of high interest and get buried, I think the posters here will be intelligent enough to remember where it is.

But doesnīt really matter in the end, both ways have their advantages and disadvantages, and Iīll be able to live with both.

I am glad the vote is so far saying yes. Its the only thing wrong with the board as I see it, I come on and at a glance it is hard to see which threads are new.

I am a participant in 2 or 3 messageboards and all of them have the threads sorted in order they were last posted on, much better IMO.

Aye. Having new posts come to the top would make this board a lot better; and it's already a huge improvement over the old message board software.

Mat

Is it possible to get the layout of this board like http://www.secondsout.com/soforum/ub...ML/012471.html so you click on a thread and all the posts are there without having to click on each one?
