I'd play it the same. There is no reason to think the river will be checked through.

I'd personally do the same and let UTG or one of the other 4 players bet it for you to see where you are. KJ smooth-calling the turn for extra bets is a possibility here.

very nice, had odds all the way through, a little under at the turn, 4 outs is 10.5:1, but thats alright... I just hope nobody had KJ for the nut, at which point you cant get upset at them because they made the exact same play as you did, except for not tossing the KJ preflop.

[/ QUOTE ]This is a good point I didn't initially think about. What do you think the odds are that someone who wouldn't fold a KJo pre-flop is capable of just calling the turn bet?

I don't think there are many players who wouldn't raise the turn with KJ. The only one I feel who could possibly have KJ is UTG - but he wouldn't bet the flop with it (unless it were K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] - maybe).

Well, I'm glad I got you all agreeing with a river check raise. I bet if I showed the river action I would've heard some "just bet" stuff.

Depends what type of player UTG is. If he's tight/passive and unsure of his hand he might check the river with all of the callers he's had for the past two streets, I'm inclined to bet. If he's more LAGish then I'm inclined to check and trap the field in for two bets.

You still made the right play miles. If we looked at this then we'd be falling into that results oriented mindset.

Most of the time that river is going to get bet by someone, and then you can raise.

That 5c is not really a scare card at all. The wheel is the hardest straight to spot.
