That's not consistent and chips won't bounce right if your doing tricks.

Most folks generally agree that Neoprene is the best choice but Volara (what I used), EVA, carpet padding, HD foam (I personally wouldn't recommend this) and other materials have been used sucessfully. Check out pokerfoam.info and definitely check out Scott Keen's poker table building forum if you are building a table. Read the Faqs first.

That's true now that you mention it. Fortunately no one I play with does chip tricks.

The best you can get for a poker table, and is not cheap by any means, is called HIGH DENSITY CLOSED CELL FOAM. This stuff will never crush, and always maintains its shape. You'll need to get a 1/4" thickness. This is the product and distributor that I bought from.

http://www.knoxfoam.com/cgi-bin/Soft....htm?E+scstore

The product number (scroll down) is CCR13 and is sold by the foot. Say you want 9', they will cut a piece 9' long by 51" wide. They were great with getting my order to my house very quickly. Highly recommended.

IF YOUR NOT USING CLOSED CELL FOAM, YOUR USING THE WRONG STUFF!!!!

Definitely read the Scott-Keen forum...
Some folks also use headliner foam.
You can also check out yourautotrim for supplies... they have the suited cloth which I hear is nice.

Another foam source

I used the headliner material purchased from my local fabric store. I believe it cost about $7 per lineal yard (3' wide).
