Default low pair on the button

You get a low pair on the button. Everybody folds to you. What is the best play in this situation? Preflop and postflop

If the blinds are tight, you should generally raise. If the blinds are calling stations, then folding is probably best.

I understand why to raise if the blinds are tight but would you care to develop why to fold otherwise. I probably have best cards after the flop havnt I?

Raise preflop. Flop a set and bet or raise postflop. Failing that, usually bet the flop. Depending on the board and opponents playing styles, bet the turn if there's a good chance they are drawing, and check behind on the river.

in a game where you have a chance to steal the blinds you are getting a good price, so raise. in a game where you have little chance of stealing the blinds fold the low pair.

No way do you ever fold in situation. In fact, hope for a call. So many people protect their blinds with BS, you're gonna be way +EV here raising. You're getting your money in with a pair against two random hands...hmm...sounds like poker.

The recommendations you have received to sometimes fold or call are a joke. You are playing a threehanded game and you have position and already a made hand.

If anyone finds himself losing money in the situation described against any combination of blinds, it is because your postflop game sucks.

FWIW, I am not an idiot, I do see situations in games such as the Commerce low limit tables where the punishment for seeing a flop (high drop) that folding against loose blinds becomes correct.

Because there will be 3 overcards to your pair on the flop most of the time and you'll have no idea if they hit your opponents.

Just to add to the mix of answers...if you can play this hand confidently, definitely raise. If you are unsure of your postflop play skills, definitely fold.
