2/4 live - comments welcome
2/4 live game, full table.
CO is an older gent that is better than the average player at the table but not threatening. Let's say slighty loose and aggressive WHEN he has a hand. BB is mid 30's or so and in the last half hour or so I have downgraded his skills considerably. He seems fairly selective pre flop but after that he has gotten deathly passive. I have been playing well(up$30+)for the three hrs or so I've been there when this hand comes up. I am UTG with AKo. I raise, fold to CO who cold calls, button and SB fold,BB calls. 6.5 SB Flop comes Q-J-T rainbow. I bet. CO raises. BB reraises. I am stunned. I should have reraised, I guess, but I was so taken by surprise that I called. I am already considering that a split pot is in the future, CO reraises, BB calls. I call.18.5 SB turn is a 6. I check, CO bets, BB calls, I raise. CO says" oh, we made him mad" and calls, BB calls.15.5 BB The river is another 6. now what? If I bet and get raised I am beat. If I bet and get called I split or win. If I check and call I could be beat but I get to see at least one of these hands that I am just dying to see. I put the CO on AK. It really is not uncommon for the older players to not raise AKo much less three bet it. The big blind either has two big pairs or the full house. I checked. well? Re: 2/4 live - comments welcome
The older gents at the tables I've played against like to slowplay way too much, just calling preflop with AA, KK, AK. These types enjoy trying to trap with their big showdowns but get very little preflop value and give up the opportunity to build the pot. My impression is that they are tight, very predictable, don't attempt to vary their style much, and play with their egos. I agree with your assessment of AK - his comments seem to re-inforce that. Your only fear is the boat, so check and call.
