bakku, a good example, and it illustrates the point clearly and effectively.

The concept of pumping money into the pot to give yourself correct odds to draw later in the hand is logically fallacious, while - as The Matador pointed out - not a "logical fallacy" like the fallacy of composition, for example.

Sloppy english on my part. Thanks for correcting me, Matador.

I don't think I have been giving anyone "attitude" at all. I do think that people who are used to having their opinions accepted on here seem to get very upset when someone disagrees with them, however.

Listen, I think you have made some decent points, and I appreciate them. But from an objective, 3rd person view, it really seems like you've been getting overly defensive. In fairness, some people have been overly mean to you.

Also, it really isn't a matter of people having a problem with you disagreeing with them. Saying that is an easy way out.

[/ QUOTE ]

Fair enough. But you have to admit that this forum is not exactly receptive to "alternative" perspectives. :P When I suggest that you get paid now for a draw in case a freeze card shows up, I know it's not standard dogma, but I also don't think it should be labelled as absurd. You are also getting your opponent to put in an extra bet on the flop, which people seem to be forgetting.

This discussion appears to have reached its end, so I will now finally to bed. Thanks for the welcome to the forum.

Would your new line be to call the flop and fold the turn unimproved? If it depends on have callers behind you, how many?

I think he's taking the win the most when ahead/lose the least when behind line of calling down.

I was actually suggesting calling the flop because I think you're behind and would fold UI.

Forgot to mention that UTG calling the flop is also another reason not to raise.

Yeah, I figured that out along the way. That makes more sense.

bakku,

Good way to put it. Nice post.

But I'm not sure why everyone's assuming we call the turn here regardless. If I don't have the odds I don't call. Plain and simple. My line here would probably be to call the flop and fold the turn unimproved. And frankly I think it's the only +EV line to take in this hand. I'm not saying raising is horrible...but definitely not for some of the reasons given. And honestly I don't think just folding the flop would be horrible either.

I only meant that the turn call is clear given this specific turn card -- b/c that card gives us odds to continue. Same thing you are saying.

It wouldn't. I do think I have the implied odds for the call, but it's certainly close.
