Default how long to stay at .25/.50 poker stars

I have about 16,000 hands at .25/.50 at Poker Stars. I plan to play 100,000 at .25/.50 then move up to 1/2. By doing this i can take a little profit from each level before moving up. Any comments or advice is welcome.

100,000...why???

And why are you planning to skip .5/1?

To spite Sample Size Man?

In all seriousness, playing 100k hands at 0.25/0.50 is silly. Your time would be much better spent (assuming you're a winning player) moving up at regular intervals and learning to beat progressively bigger games. Part of the reason people suggest playing hands at each limit is to gradually improve your game, not just for bankroll reasons. You're going to have to make a bigger adjustment by going straight to 1/2 than someone who got there via 0.5/1. You'll also have to deal with the psychological impact of the pots and bets being 4x as big as you're used to.

yes i do plan to skip .5/1 because I can make as much at .25/.50 as i do at .50/1 with less bankroll swing. I thought 100,000 ands would verify iam a winning player at .25/.50 level. Also, it would allow me to skim some profits.

Read the FAQ.

10k hands and 400BB for the next level are guidelines. This works fine until 2/4.

You should probably stay at 2/4 longer. My best advice is to spend about 15-20k hands there. There's a lot to learn there. 3/6... maybe more.

But, it's all about comfort. Don't play above your bankroll. Don't be afraid to move down when you lose confidence and/or bankroll. If you think you need 100k hands before moving up... then play 100k hands. The decision, after all, is yours.

It doesn't take 100K hands to verify you're a solid player. If you are a solid player, there shouldn't be a reason you can't make more at .50/1 than at .25/.50 plus each step up teaches you new lessons and gets you accustomed to the higher stakes.

Bad strat. Where does it stop? Don't skip levels. Swings are a fact of poker. If you play, you will have swings. Learn to deal w/ it.

I don't know you and I know nothing about how good you are, but you are wrong about this.

There is absolutely no way you can earn more at .25/.50 than you could earn in the Party .5/1. If you can play four tables of .25/.50, you can do the same at .5/1, probably at ~ the same winrate at twice the stakes.

Now, if you're saying you could earn more in the STARS .25/.5 than the STARS .5/1, then I guess I could see that, but there are some very, very soft .5/1 games out there that you're missing.

so you jump into a situation where a 25BB swing at 1/2 is the same as a 100BB swing at the last level you were at?? you are setting yourself up for major problems if you don't hit 1/2 on a good stretch
