A SSNL Preflop survey
While nut peddling is a safe way to make money, i have found that i actually want to learn how to play real poker to move past PP NL25 and such. So i decided to post a survey of questions to help better educate myself (and hopefully others) so i can get rid of my 17/4/.5 numbers. Or perhaps some on this site will say that this weak tight style is the optimum play. Well whatever it is you think i just hope this survey will stir up a rousing thread.
NOTE-I understand that "it depends" could be a common answer but please dont go there. Give a long answer if you need to. Most of these questions come from situations i come across 1. You hold 44 UTG in a loose passive game. Whats your play? 2. You hold ATs in MP. All fold to you. WYP? 3. You hold ATs in MP. 3 limpers. WYP? 4. You hold ATs in MP. 2 limpers and a 4x BB raise. WYP? 5. You hold QQ in the CO. a 4x BB raise and 2 cold callers. WYP? 6. You Hold QQ in the CO. a 4x BB raise and a reraise of 3x original raise. WYP? 7. You hold 89s on the Button. a 4x BB raise and 3 cold callers. WYP? 8. You hold 89s on the BB. a 4x BB raise and 3 cold callers. WYP? 9. You hold 55 on the Button. a 4x BB raise and 3 cold callers. WYP? 10. You Hold KQs in MP. all fold to you. WYP? 11. You hold KQs in MP. 2 limpers. WYP? 12. You hold AQs in the CO. 4x BB raiser then all fold to you. WYP? 13. You hold AKs in the CO. 4x BB raiser then all fold to you. WYP? |

Re: A SSNL Preflop survey
These answers are not correct for most people, but i:
1. limp, call a small raise in the implied odds if i flop a set. 2. Raise 3xBB or so. 3. Raise 3xBB or so. 4. Fold. 5. Reraise 4xBB. 6. Fold. 7. Call (sometimes, usually fold) 8. Call (sometimes, usually fold) 9. Fold. (unless the stake/stacksize means 4xBB isn't much) 10. Raise 3xBB. 11. Raise 3xBB. 12. Reraise 3xBB. Possibly fold to a reraise. 13. Reraise 3xBB. Possibly call a reraise. |

Re: A SSNL Preflop survey
Basically every answer depends on stack sizes, but here would be my general defaults assuming reasonable stack sizes.
1. Fold. 2. Limp. (Only because L/P) 3. Limp. 4. Fold. 5. Re-raise the pot. 6. Call. 7. Call. 8. Fold. 9. Call. 10. Limp. (Only because L/P) 11. Limp. 12. Call. 13. Call or re-raise. |

Re: A SSNL Preflop survey
I haven't read any of the other responses, I am going to answer these from a 6 max perspective.
[ QUOTE ] 1. You hold 44 UTG in a loose passive game. Whats your play? [/ QUOTE ] Limp for set value [ QUOTE ] 2. You hold ATs in MP. All fold to you. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] Fold 25% Limp 50% Raise 5XBB 25% [ QUOTE ] 3. You hold ATs in MP. 3 limpers. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] Limp [ QUOTE ] 4. You hold ATs in MP. 2 limpers and a 4x BB raise. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] Fold [ QUOTE ] 5. You hold QQ in the CO. a 4x BB raise and 2 cold callers. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] 50% Call and 50% Raise the pot [ QUOTE ] 6. You Hold QQ in the CO. a 4x BB raise and a reraise of 3x original raise. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] Fold unless the stacks are big enough for set odds. Or if the reraiser is extremely loose or fishy, then I'm pushing. [ QUOTE ] 7. You hold 89s on the Button. a 4x BB raise and 3 cold callers. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] Call, especially if deeper stacks. [ QUOTE ] 8. You hold 89s on the BB. a 4x BB raise and 3 cold callers. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] Same [ QUOTE ] 9. You hold 55 on the Button. a 4x BB raise and 3 cold callers. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] Call for set value [ QUOTE ] 10. You Hold KQs in MP. all fold to you. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] limp 80%, raise 5X blind 20% [ QUOTE ] 11. You hold KQs in MP. 2 limpers. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] Limp. If stacks are deep, I raise this occasionally 5XBB [ QUOTE ] 12. You hold AQs in the CO. 4x BB raiser then all fold to you. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] Fold. I don't like 3 outers plus flush draw. [ QUOTE ] 13. You hold AKs in the CO. 4x BB raiser then all fold to you. WYP? [/ QUOTE ] 66% Reraise ~3X raise, and be willing to push. 34% flat call, willing to go the the felt if A or K flops. Otherwise folding unless I flop a flushdraw. |

Re: A SSNL Preflop survey
some of these are interesting. I'm in a similar place - have been making good steady money at .50/1 but don't feel confident enough in my game to move up even though I have the bankroll for it. Anyway here are my answers, would be curious to hear other responses too.
1. You hold 44 UTG in a loose passive game. Whats your play? limp then fold/call raise based on stack sizes 2. You hold ATs in MP. All fold to you. WYP? limp but don't feel good about it 3. You hold ATs in MP. 3 limpers. WYP? limp 4. You hold ATs in MP. 2 limpers and a 4x BB raise. WYP? fold 5. You hold QQ in the CO. a 4x BB raise and 2 cold callers. WYP? re-raise or even push depending on stacks. anyone just call here? 6. You Hold QQ in the CO. a 4x BB raise and a reraise of 3x original raise. WYP? fold unless re-raiser is LAG/maniac, then either go over the top or call to see if flop has overs 7. You hold 89s on the Button. a 4x BB raise and 3 cold callers. WYP? if everyone is stacked and table has particularly poor players, call. otherwise fold 8. You hold 89s on the BB. a 4x BB raise and 3 cold callers. WYP? fold. straight/flush draws no fun to play OOP 9. You hold 55 on the Button. a 4x BB raise and 3 cold callers. WYP? call/fold depending on stack sizes 10. You Hold KQs in MP. all fold to you. WYP? used to raise, now limp. can't decide which is better. 11. You hold KQs in MP. 2 limpers. WYP? limp 12. You hold AQs in the CO. 4x BB raiser then all fold to you. WYP? fold unless raiser is a maniac, then use position to play carefully and be prepared to drop the hand unless you hit your draw/two-pair/trip Qs etc. 13. You hold AKs in the CO. 4x BB raiser then all fold to you. WYP? usually call. sometimes re-raise against a maniac. Again, I'm no expert, so take with a grain o' salt. jbright |

Re: A SSNL Preflop survey
These answers are from a 6-max perspective.
1) limp 2) raise 3) this would be 1 or 2 limpers in 6-max. I'd call from UTG+1 and raise from CO 4) fold 5) re-raise 6) push, unless i know the raiser or re-raiser to raise only AA-KK. 7) fold 8) fold 9) call 10) raise 11) call 12) call 13) re-raise |

Re: A SSNL Preflop survey
1. 44 UTG - Limp
2. Raise 3. Fold 4. Fold quickly. 5. Call, unless raiser is extremely lag, than reraise. 6. Muck, unless reraiser is crazy. 7. Call quickly. 8. Fold. Out of position is out of the action. 9. Easy call. 10. Raise. 11. Limp 12. Fold 13. Call |
