Default Missed a few chips?

Button is loose passive.

What are your thoughts on the river?

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

Flop: (8 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, BB calls, CO folds, Button calls.

Turn: (5.50 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>

with 2 callers behind, I would check/call this river- but that's just me. An 8 or TJ may be waiting until the river to raise. You might induce a bluff as well.

Bet that river, no one has shown any agression.

It's close but you'll get a 9 or small pocket pair to call often enough to make this thin value bet. In the future, don't include the results in your post.

I'm still learning here, but with two callers behind do we really think that there are enough people who we have beat and will call a bet on the river vs. people who beat us and will raise? If so, why do we think this?

I'm probably just gun shy, but (in recent memory) I have been raised on the river in situations just like this thanks to a miracle river card more times that I have been called on the river by someone holing junk.

people who beat us and will raise? If so, why do we think this?

Depending on the exact action you should not be calling a raise on such a board.
