Best of 3 competition
Pick 1 city and the best of their historical teams from Baseball, Basketball, and Football. Which city fares the best?
My suspicion is Chicago with the '85 Bears, one of the Jordan years of the Bulls, and some random cubs or sox team (I don't follow baseball at all.) |

Re: Best of 3 competition
As much as I would hate to say so, I would take Boston, with the current Patriots, current Red Sox, and one of the Celtics teams with Bird, Mchale, Parish, D.J., Ainge, etc.

San Francisco... couple divisional titles in baseball....3 Superbowls....who gives a [censored] about basketball... [/ QUOTE ] Better choice would've been Bay Area: Oakland's 1970's 3-peaters Niners of the 80s Rick Berry era of the Warriors. As a homer, it's tough to admit that my teams pale in comparison to other cities. |

Philadelphia:
1980 Phillies 1974 Flyers 1983 Sixers 2004 Eagles Any city with a halfway decent sports tradition will be able to put together a very good list (Boston, New York, Chicago, Philly, et al.) |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm from the Philly area, but I still have to say this is a weak list. The 1949 or 1960 Eagles would be a better choice than 2004, unless they win convincingly on Sunday. And the 1980 Phillies? They won the division on the next-to-last day of the season, squeaked through the NLCS with four extra-inning games winning the series 3-2, then beat an ordinary Royals' team in the Series. |

[/ QUOTE ] I almost went with the 1960 Eagles, and probably should have no matter how the current incarnation does on Sunday. As for the Phillies, they are the losingest team in the history of professional sports, so there's not much to choose from. I don't know any other year to choose. 1993? No way. 1964? That's probably more appropriate for Philly, but 1980 is the only ones to win it all. |

Re: Best of 3 competition
There is an obviously correct answer and it has already been said, '85 Chicago Bears, best football team ever, 1906 Cubs that went 116-36 and one of the 5 best baseball teams ever, and the best basketball team of all time the 72-10 Bulls from the 95-96 season. Best football team, best basketball team, top 5 baseball team, it's Chicago in a walk.
