So I'm guessing I'm not the only one who read this and thought, "Damn, I wish I had 50k and Keyser HU right now."

I think part of the problem in understanding this match is the scale involved. To most of us, to me certainly, 16k three times is huge. I don't have 16k one time in my bank. However, after turning my $30 into $2300, and then watching my $2300 turn back into $30...

I can't imagine losing 48k in one heads up match, because I've never had 48k. However, to me, $2300 is also a lot of money. If I'd just cashed that out it could have made a significant impact on my life, on my debts and potentially on the purchase of a luxury or two.

So, the guy got his clock cleaned. People lose their rolls every day, some small, some large. One man's daily variance is another man's entire roll... either way, it is all poker, it is all paying your bills with another man's money.

Yea, I'm pretty much over it now, I wrote the original post like 5 minutes after it happened and it just sucked to watch.

You must realise there's no such thing as personal responsibility anymore. If you screw up, find someone to blame, preferably a large corporation who you can sue for millions. If there really is nobody else you can blame (even at a stretch), blame the government. Either sue them or just wait for them to catch you when you fall and feed you loads of benefits.

What you should absolutely NEVER do, under ANY circumstances, is accept some responsibility for your own decisions and your own life.

I don't see how this could have been avoided. Clearly, it could have been delayed, but isn't it obvious from reading this that it was just a matter of time before Keyser went broke?

Wrong forum.

See...the thing is. Nowhere in this thread did anyone say that Keyser shouldn't have to take responsibility for what he did. He gambled his whole bankroll and lost, which is a bummer, man. It's just ugly seeing others squabble over who gets to take his money (that part of things actually sounded pretty shady) and seeing someone go broke.

Your post basically reads like a troll.

That said, if someone worse than me wants to go heads-up for their last 50K I'm not going to turn them down. I know I'm taking _someone's_ money when I play.

If you can't accept poker's essential nature, don't play.

Poker really is that harsh.

Great stuff.

I'm always surprised by how many people can't seem to stomach that aspect of poker.

If you put your money on the table, I wan't it.

And I don't believe that poker's essential nature is cleaning out compulsive gamblers playing above their head.

I know it happens, but I don't think its at all a necessary part of poker. I don't think compulsive gamblers should be gambling at all. Obviously, there's nothing I can do about it and it's not like I'm going to try, but I think poker would get along just fine without compulsive gamblers. Casinos, maybe not.
