Re: JJ in the BB
Agreed, you played fine on all the streets. On the river you probably call, there's still just the one overcard. It's possible the the flop raiser has a queen, but there are plenty of other hands he could have raised with too.
And raising from the BB is definitely right; JJ is too good to let everyone limp into the pot for one bet, even if there are a lot of them and you don't expect to thin the field. |

Re: JJ in the BB
Definately raise preflop.
I don't like how you played the flop/turn however. Betting out is correct as there is no reason to believe anybody has a Q. It gets trickier though once you are raised and MP2 smooth calls two bets. What was your thought process here? If you figured that you were behind to a Q then you should obviously fold as you have very few outs. If you think that they are just playing a draw then you should bet out on the turn so as to not give your opponents a free card to beat you. |

Re: JJ in the BB
PREFLOP: fine
FLOP: Hmmm... is MP1 raising a flush draw, or a pair of queens. You don't know, so you can't give up yet. I suggest this line: Simply call his raise, then lead out on the turn and see how he reacts. If he raises you on the turn, FOLD. If he just calls (implying more of a flush draw). Lead out on the river. I'd argue against 3-betting the flop because he'll just cap it with either a flush draw or a paired queen. Then you really haven't gained any inforamtion. TURN: I think you have to lead this turn (fold to a raise, but don't let him take a free card if he's on the flush draw). RIVER: I like not betting the river because if villain just has a broken flush draw, he'll fold to your bet. But checking may induce him to bluff. Just my thoughts... Adam |

Re: JJ in the BB
What is all this probably crap about the river. If you called the turn and the river does not bring an A or K, how do you NOT call?
Altnernatively you can just fold the flop. |

Altnernatively you can just fold the flop. [/ QUOTE ] That is horribly, horribly weak-tight. I like the bet/call, then lead the turn if a blank falls line. |

Agreed. How blank-y do you think the Th is ? [/ QUOTE ] It's a pretty big blank - J9 or pocket tens or some bogus 5T or 8T are the only hands it improves against the jacks. |
