Re: set facing river check/r
you have second nuts - the only hand that can beat you is QQ. There's a reasonable non-zero chance that he does have that - I can see him playing it that way given the board. So I personally would play it this way but call the check-raise, mostly because I would assume he'd go for four if I 3-bet the river. But I'm not good on the river, so don't take my word for it.

Re: set facing river check/r
I don't see any other way.
It's wierd that UTG+2 layed low on the turn, then piped up again on the river - almost makes me doubt QQ and think instead of AA or KK (i.e. he waited to see if any reasonable draws came through before betting the hell out of an overpair). Adam |

Re: set facing river check/r
You're fine. Good play, no need to slow down. If he had QQ laugh because he should have 2 more BB from you due to his poor play on the turn.

Re: set facing river check/r
Seems to me like he made his straight on the river, but I can't see 89s from that position. Weird slowplay with QQ?

Re: set facing river check/r
Yeah, I've had the 789TQ straight before, too, but this is just further proof that Party is rigged, because it never awards me the pot.
Villain has followed a line that I have observed several people take with AA. It looks to this inexperienced newbie like you played the river well. -web |

Re: set facing river check/r
89 doesn't make a straight. QQ, might play it like this in order to get overcalls.
