I just made some phone calls and this is what I found out about OK card rooms.
The cherokee casino near tulsa dealt their first hand of poker yesterday they said and they assured me that they will have atleast 10 table running this weekend. I did not get any info on limits or rake because the receptionist seemed a little ditzy! Winstar said they will have blackjack tables open on feb 15th and that poker would follow "shortly". I asked for an explanation of shortly and she said that is all she could say at this time. Being that I am not yet 21 ( 1 more month ) I will be heading to cherokee this weekend since it is 18+. Anyone have any recommendations for my first B&M trip? I plan on playing the lowest limit available which I believe will be 4/8 or maybe 5/10, how much of a BR should I take for about 10 - 12 hours of play? Do holdem games tend to be the softest games or would it be wise to play omaha or stud to further exploit the fish that are likely to be around for opening weekend? |

Josh I will be there tommorow during the day. To answer your questions you should prob play holdem I'm sure the games 4/8 or 5/10 will be plenty soft. 40x bb should be plenty for a 10-12hr session. I usually buy in for 25x bb and very rarely have to go back for more.

I want to go really bad but it is gonna be about a 5 hour drive for me so I would really like some feed back on wait times and things like that for a saturday session. Maybe I will wait until I can get some better info until I make the drive. I can barely wait to get my first B&M session under my belt so I may just give in and head up there tommorow.

I'm with you on that. I'm waiting until I hear some good reviews before I cross the Red River.

Q prob best for you to wait on Winstar but the Cherokee is close to the Tulsa airport if you wanted to catch a Southwest flight in. It's about 10 miles away. I'm in OKC so I will hit most of the casinos when they open to find out what they are like. I'll keep you guys posted.

Depending on what the wife says tonight I may just go ahead and make a run up there tommorow and get in the 4/8 or 5/10 game. The urge to play some live poker is killing me after 3 years of online play I am dying to touch some cards I probably wont be able to make it up there until around 6:00 or 7:00 tommorow and then hopefully there will be enough action so that I can play through the night and drive back on sunday.
