If you consistently raise UTG with hands as weak as K,Qo in a typical 10 handed game you will soon feel the pain.

That's all well and good, but this hand was in a 7-handed game (actually a full game with some people away from the table) where we all agree that the raise is fine, so can we please discuss the postflop play?

I think you played it fine.

Especially preflop.

You can't fold on the flop to a bet. The turn got checked so it's likely BN doesn't have the A, Im assuming. Unless someone else is just sitting on A/crap and wants to see if it holds up without betting. Which is very possible. Player knowledge helps here. Which is why with no other real draws on the board on the flop, other than gutshots, I might check the river. However, with these players, I might bet it if they're that bad.

It's 9-handed at Commerce, and they typically call your UTG raise with Q-J. There are many games at Commerce where raising with K-Q UTG will inflict pain on the others.

It's hard to argue with the line you took, although I suppose you could 3-bet the river if you're really frisky.

Button described as mostly passive, how can you not include KK,QQ,JJ,99,88 etc in the possible holdings.

3bets a raise, bets the flop when checked to but lets the turn check through. Seems to me a med-high pocket pair is very possible given his description.

Since preflop isn't what the poster wants to know about I agree with everything with the possibility that I MAY fold to the raise on the river, but that would be based on the oponent.

Except, of course, in this case when he decided to three-bet that instead .

What about Ax? Could he have Ace rag suited and only caught the ace? Afraid to bet the turn because he thought he was out kicked? Then bet fifth thinking he had the best hand? Thoughts? [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
