Default Laying down JJ Preflop

Live $100 max $1/$2 game. I have $120 in 3rd position.

UTG ($75) Opens for $5
UTG +1 Folds
Hero raises to $20 with JJ
Fold around to Small blind $120 who raises to $75
BB Folds
UTG calls all-in.
Your action??

Game has been relatively loose agressive. UTG has not played a lot of hands and appears to be one of the weaker players at the table. SB is a tough player who has played pretty tight agressive while I have been at the table. I have played pretty tight in my couple hours at the table, the only hand I have shown down is QQ.

Fold. If it was played the same way online I would expect SB to have a high pocket pair and if not, well it wouldn't be very hard to extract money from him down the road.

I'm folding to small blind alone.

I'd definetely fold here. That $75 reraise looks like either QQ or KK, and the all-in call is at the worst AK.

I would fold.

I have learned the hard way (or, more precisely, the expensive way) that calling large preflop re-raises with JJ should only be done when the Poker Gods have promised you a J on the flop, because you are going to need it...

Easy fold.

Dont raise JJ that much, especially in EP/MP.

I folded. BB showed 66. UTG Showed A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 6 hit the flop with 2 spades. Flush came on the River. I think I did the right thing. I hated my fold when I saw their cards and loved it when I saw the flop. BB told me that he knew he could raise me off of my hand and have a race with UTG, getting odds from my dead $20. I still don't like his play, because he is going to get called in at least one spot. Even if he did push me off of a medium PP, he can't know that UTG doesn't have a higher PP and put him in bad shape. I am not sure what UTG was doing calling this bet. Next time I'll make a smaller raise, I don't think it would be correct to just call here, but my raise was too much.

Thanks for the comments.

Steve

As it turned out you folded the best hand at the time. Oh well! that is a very easy fold. In the game you describe there will be many better spots to push your stack to the middle.

I believe this is failed logic here. "Better spots" should not apply unless you are on a limited bankroll. Grab every little bit of +EV you can.

That being said, it is still a clear fold.
