Default 25/50 AKo Hand.. Calling down the short stack

No real reads on the guy except his stack is only 1000$.

Other notable stack in the hand has 2500.
I have $1400 to start the hand.

I get dealt AKo in middle position.
$2500 stack limps
I bet the pot ($225)
$1000 stack in the BB calls
$2500 stack in the BB calls.

Flop is
J32 rainbow

Checked around slowly.

Turn is a 3

$1000 stack suddenly lights up and bets $300.
$2500 stack folds

I call. - about $1100 in the pot now and the shortstack has about $500

Last card is a 6
He bets out $300 and only has $200.

I was thinking.. why the hell wouldn't he have pushed if he had a Jack? The pots already big enough. If he has a small pair, he was stupid for calling preflop w/ out the implied odds. I'm going to call him down.

Thoughts?

If I were you in this hand, my thinking on the turn would be something like this:

My opponent has bet $300 and has only $500 more behind. My call will make this pot over $1,200 ($225x3 + 300*2 = $1,275 - rake). In order to see a showdown, I am very likely going to have to put in $800 total because my opponent is likely to bet the river. I think I can find a better place than no pair to get almost my entire stack in the middle.

You've told us nothing about your opponent so I have no idea what range of raise-calling hands you put him on. If you're going to call when he bets the rest of his chips on the river, why not go ahead and push on the turn to at least give yourself a chance of pushing him off 44 or a random 6? I admit that seems unlikely to success given his stack and the action so far but some chance is better than no chance, right?

As for the river, if you think you've got a read or you really don't believe there is a pair your opponent would play this way, you have an easy call of course. The pot is big and after calling the turh with no pair and insufficient odds to draw to one, I don't see folding the river.

Y would u do that? It sounds like ure just pissed u missed with AK and r looking for that Ace or king on the river. What if he flopped a set and is slow playing? Mabee he has 88 and since the flop was cheked hes sure no ones got a Jack. theres just to many ways uren beat here get out and look for a better spot.( if u have a read thats different u didnt mention 1 though).

You said "why didnt he push if he has a jack". He didnt push because he knows you have AK after you checked the flop. He wants you to call.

Hmmm.. I didn't expect to be berated that much by this play. What's a situation where it IS proper to call down with Ace high?

I called the river bet and won the pot to his KQo.
He was bluffing as well.

I just don't want to get too results oriented
