Default overcoming the rake

The rake at the 1-3 SL game at my local casino is $3 flat for all pots >=$10. Most of the time, as many as eight or nine players limp in for $1, making it unusual to drag a rake-free pot of under $10. Any suggestions, besides not playing this game!, for minimizing the effect of this flat rake?

I'm thinking that drawing hands would be best, when I come from behind to with a big pot with a flush or straight, whereas hands I would need to protect aggressively would be worth less. Of course, the monster starting hands are always good regardless of the rake, since they have such a pre-flop edge, but should I avoid unsuited high cards like KJ and AT more than usual, even in late position, or would the money I'm getting from my opponents' playing trash hands compensate for this?
