Seems like I do something along those lines to myself every time I'm making a good run in a tournament. At the time I had 9k in chips. The leader had about 15k and the blinds weren't too large yet. I'm just too damn stubborn on some hands and it comes back to screw me. Anybody else have this problems and/or a way to try to fix it?

I used to get myself into this problem as well. Most MTT strategies say to bet out on a flop with hands like AK or AQ even if you miss, also only if it is 2 or 3 handed. On flops like this it is tough to play hands like AK.

I really hate your call on the flop here. If you are going to continue with the hand, at least raise the bettors small little bet on the flop (3x what he bet at least here). If he calls, try to just check behind on the turn. Try not to get yourself too involved after the flop unless you improve. Thats usually the strategy I take, unless I have a really strong read that the guy is on a small pocket pair or he is making a move.

Pride isnt needed in MTT. Fold the flop. So they knew/think you had AK. When you have KK next time and bet 3bb they will call thinking he has AK.

Play to survive----fold the flop and say good bye to 1/19 of your stack. Not a big deal!

Yea, probably should have mucked on the flop or raised and then checked down most likely if he called. Atleast, you'd have gotten away much cheaper. Of course, if he re-raises the flop or bets into you on the turn, then it's an easy muck.

I have the same problem in MTT's, usually build up a nice stack and then pi$$ away most of that in a hand where I should have just mucked it after the flop. Then I can't sleep because I'm re-playing the hand in my head all night.

Do you normally adjust your standard pf raise to account for limpers? With two limpers already in the hand, I'm trying to take it down with a bigger raise than my standard 3-4x. That should prevent very marginal hands like QJ from seeing this flop.

If I have raised pre-flop theres no way Im laying my hand down to a weak bet on the flop unless I think its a fishy bet and he wants me to reraise.

You should have raised his flop bet,if he calls then you can decide what to do on the turn, although you will probably either be re-raised by a superior hand,or win the pot there and then.

Very good point!

With 2 limpers you must increase the size of your raise. Raising to T500 made the pot T1050 (SB+BB+2 limpers+your bet) and the limpers only need to add T350 - essentially getting 3 to 1 on their money. Unless they KNEW you had a pocket pair (higher than both their overcards (in Vilains case - you would have to have KK or AA) - they are making a correct call to see the flop.

Others have commented on post flop play already.

Nice what-i-thought, what-i-should-have-thought analysis of the hand. I agree that a slightly larger PF raise might help. I personally would have just called the flop, checked the turn and folded the river without improving.
