Default Flopped a set, turn has a flush, river gives me the boat.

4-tabling. No major reads on villian except that he has roughly 25% VP$IP based solely off of GT+

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, CO calls, Button calls, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (7 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (7 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, UTG+2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, CO folds, Button folds.

Is there any way I could've protected my hand on the flop? My thinking when getting a set is ram and jam.

Turn: (5.50 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, MP1 raises, MP2 calls, Hero calls, BB calls.

Didn't want to see a club. The raise put me in calldown mode.

River: (13.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets, BB folds, MP1 raises, MP2 folds, Hero ???

Manna from heaven! A boat. But I got raised again, could he have a higher boat? What should I do?

Final Pot: 17.50 BB

3-bet and call a cap. more often than not he has a club flush. if he flopped a higher set or 2 pr, he wouldve raised the flop. if he turned 2 pr i doubt he wouldve raised out of fear of the flush. post results after you get more feedback plz.

3-bets. he's probably got the nut-flush and thinks you have the other A. make him eat it...

3-bet and call a 4-bet.

first of all, you are behind exactly 5 hands - AA, 88, A9, A8, A4. AA and A4 are unlikely (no pf raise, and you know where 3 of the 4s are). so you are behind 3 realistic hands. if he had 2 pair on the flop, he'd probably raise, so you are behind 2 likely hands. raise.

and the extra callers are padding the pot for you.

gambool!

Default RESULTS

MP1 has A9 and takes the pot.

Thanks for the feedback. It seems like I'm getting my low pair boats getting cracked by higher cards (non pocket pair) every so often, so I got a little gunshy. Even though I lost the pot, I should've 3-betted.

I'd raise for value on the river. It's likely you're facing a flush or a set of Aces.

Agreed. You played it well. A9o is a hand a lot of people aren't even going play, especially in middle position. A9s is another thing, and in that case, you got sucked out by the last ace. Flopping a set is usually an extremely strong, sneaky, and profitable hand.

Side note:
I was mutli-tabling the other day and got 4's on one table and jacks on the other. Flopped sets on both at the same time The betting ensued, only to lose to a flush on the river on BOTH hands.

What can you do?
