As a relative newbie who is happy to win his way into $200 tournaments, you sound like good material for an episode of Tilt. W needs your $$$ to continue screwing up in Iraq--be a good American and quit whining about $7K in taxes. What goes around comes around--fortune has smiled in your face, pay your due now, or you will end up paying later!

What are you "pay your taxes" people smoking? Reread the post slowly. He's not dodging taxes.

Serious answer: Income is taxable, whether legal, illegal, foreign, domestic, etc.

Income is income.

Rookie K is correct. A transcript of the hands where the deal was made, along with the check to the other competitor should be enough to establish that the 20K was never your money. Any tax attorney or accountant should be able to work with that.

I don't check the MTT Forumn except once a month so don't expect a RE from me, but the first time ONE of you writes the IRS $100K for your QUARTERLY 'estimated' taxed THAN you can talk all the [censored] you want.

If this guy isn't trolling you have the other person's number (I watched the FT) call and make HIM pay for a solid CPA ad report back to YOU with the advice on how to proceed. My best guess is if you were to call NEteller you could do an interaccount transfer for a less than rake fee (offer them a straight up amount) and make it appear as if u had a side bet goign on a $1,000 buyin heads up game at stars....

These kind of situations are common sense, if you have to ask for advice like this when you won $250K (or your wife) I question how much skill you have... even though you seemed like decent player except for a couple really dumb plays at the FT.
