Don\'t you hate it when...
Hero is UTG+1 with QQ and about $3500. The table is the usual all-in monkeys found at any $5 buy-in tournament. The Blinds are $75/$150. Hero raises $600. The table folds around to button who calls. SB calls and BB calls. The flop comes 6, 2, 2 (three different suits). The pot is now $2400. The button bets $500 with $3000 in chips. Both the blinds fold around to me. I go all-in figuring that the Button has AK and not wanting him get a cheap card. He calls and shows A2 which holds up.
I was shocked that someone with A2 would call a $600 preflop raise from early position. I also thought of his raise after the flop as either a "buy myself a cheap card" or "figure out if my middle pair will hold up" bet. The only scary hand I considered was him holding 66 but then I thought he would have slow played after the flop. Would anyone have played this much differently? I'm pretty new to on-line tournaments but have finished in the money twice and the final table once in four tries. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
