Honestly I don't think you misplayed any part of these hands. People talk about the small flop bet and the like, but from the comments of the big stack it appears he'd call your push just to have twice the chance to bust the guy. If I thought he'd fold to the push, I'd say do that for sure, but as it stands you weren't going to live past either of these hands no matter what. Cody [/ QUOTE ] So...you're saying he shouln't have pushed the flop because he would get called anyway with 9:1 underdog hands like 9sTs? |

I think you're looking at the results too closely. If you thought he would call you even if you pushed, you absolutely want to push. You want him to call you when you are such a huge favorite. Yes, the end result might have been the same. But that's not really the point. |

Lloyd - thanks for your reply - it all makes sense. Here is the deal though - I wouldnt bet any with no part of the flop - because one guy was all in. I do admit that i made a fairly small bet. But who calls even 1/5th the pot with thae hand that he had - no matter what the stack sizes are. True i made a mistake - but i should have gotten away with it because he had absolutely nothing but a backdoor extremely weak flush draw! - no reason to call 1/5th bet! especially with one guy all in. So my question was more around how he could have called this and not around how i should have bet it. [/ QUOTE ] He's a big stack. Big stacks do things like this for various reasons. If they lose, it doesn't hurt them much. If they win, it 1) increases their chips; 2) knocks out a player; and 3) sends a message to others that they are willing to call all-ins without a monster hand (this could discourage people from pushing marginal hands). You are absolutely correct in that he didn't have the odds to call you if he knew what you had. But based on your bet, he really didn't know anything and was willing to stick around and try to knock out one (or two) players. |

One correction to my above post, because of the size of your flop bet, he might not put you on top pair. Depending upon how small the other cards are on the flop, he could still think he has two live cards for a pair plus a backdoor straight and flush draw. This equals about 9 outs which makes him a 4 to 1 dog so he actually had odds to call your flop bet if this was his thinking.
