Default Action at Potawatomi (in Milwaukee)

i've played 2/4 a few times out there, done very well, and wondered if anyone could tell me if the 5/10 game is simply a bunch of wealthier 2/4ers. thanks for all input.

also, if anyone would like to meet up and play some poker at Potawatomi, maybe we can set up a day and time.

Hey Chicago area player here..starved for live play.

Is there a baby NLH game spread there>>??
Tourneys??
Omaha 8ob??

Basically any info you could provide would be great...
Id be up for an outing and there are alot of N or NW suburban Chicago players on the board that might be since live play around Chicago is pretty awful.

sorry to hijack this thread, but anyone know how tight the security is at Potawatomi? I'm originally from Milwaukee, and might be back there this summer so I may want to check into seeing if I can sneak myself in, even though I'll only be 20. So any info on how tight they are on carding would be appreciated.

P.S. I played at a home game last summer with a few people who play there from time to time. According to them there's no such thing as a bad game at Potawatomi. They're all full of fish. You should do fine.

I've only been there once, so I can't give a true answer. That being said, they funnel everybody through one entrance and there are guards on both sides. I got in without being carded, but I'm 34 and have slightly graying hair, so... I didn't see them carding anybody, but the guards are definitely there. I would guess if you look old enough and walk in confidently that they'll probably let you through. Just don't bring any electronics (iPod, etc.) as they aren't allowed, then you'll have to leave and come back which just increases your chances of being caught.

I played at the 2/4 and it was super easy. Very passive. After watching the play at the 5/10 I thought about playing that, but I needed to save the roll for the next night when I was (supposedly) going to meet some people in Trump Indiana and didn't want to risk it.

Oh, the lines suck, so get there early.

Default 5/10 Games

Playing 2/4 at pota is a waste. Unless you truly can't risk a couple buy-ins for 5/10, I would highly recommend making the move up. The 5/10 games are extremely loose and passive. With basic tight/aggressive play you should have no problems building a roll quickly at the limit.

Default Security

While it's true that they normally have a gaurd by the poker room door, they do not ALWAYS have a gaurd at the door. There are many times when I go take a break that there is nobody on duty, and anyone could just walk in. Once you are in, I find it hard to believe that anyone inside would ask you. They are pretty loose when it comes to customers. So basically if you are younger looking, I would recommend just waiting in the bingo hall and making your move when the gaurd leaves.

I play there once a week or so. Usually tue, wed, or thu after work ( 4-9pm ). Mid 40's with graying short beard. Say hi if you see me.

Played 2-4 once, then the next time the line was so long, I decided to try 5-10. Never looked back. Its not a tough game. And once you learn all the regulars and their tendencies, its even easier.

I've heard the higher limits aren't that tough either, but haven't tried them yet. I would tend to beleive that though, as people waiting for 10-20 or 20-40 will often play 5-10 while waiting. Most didn't seem too scary

Actually, sometimes I sneak in without getting carded (i'm 25 but look younger). If you take the bridge from the parking garage to the 2nd level of the casino, and then cut through bingo heaven to the poker room (don't go down the escalator), I often walk right into the poker room without getting carded.

Sometimes they have a guard in the hallway there carding people, but atleast half the time they have a guard stationed close to the bingo room who seems to have no interest in carding anyone. If you go in the main entrance (on the lower level), they have 2 guards there that will always card you.

I'd say I get carded a little less than half the time when I use the top entrance, but that may have changed now (I did get carded my last time), so use at your own risk.

I've been playing 3-5 days a week (usually early afternoon), but now with school starting my schedule is going to change a little. I'm going to try playing 2-7 M-T-Th, and 10-6 F. I'm 23, with long brown hair, black leather coat (sometimes green beanie) and have been told a million times that I look like Orlando Bloom (elv freak from LOTR). I usually sit 5/10 until the 10/20 looks good, so give me a hollar if I happen to be at your table or whatever. The name is Scott. Cheers.
