Default Raise $6 preflop with A K $25 NL party

Party $25 NL Full ring

AK in EP. I raise $3 preflop. Shorst stack with $10 reraises me all-in. Folded around to me . I have $38. Do you call the extra $7 or fold ?

I called and he had Q Q . I hit an ace on the flop and he hit a Q on the river.

Standard play, I like it. Solid raise preflop, and the call is easy since you are getting 2:1 on your money and are in trouble against only two hands, neither of which is that likely.

How could you even consider folding?

Lousy river. Happens.

the range of hands a shortstack would likely do this with is probably something like 99-AA, AT-AK, possibly something like KQs, standard call getting ~2:1 on your money

Maybe I'm in the minority here but on 25NL party, 12BB is a HUGE preflop raise. Wait, subject said 6 dollars, but post says 3...which?

I'd normally raise this to a about 3 dollars.

Easy call. I probably call this with 99+ and AQ or AK.

woops, I realize that the title is a mistake. Not sure why I wrote $6 . Yeah, I raised $3. I wasn't on tilt.

Also,

I'm on the button with 6 6. Guy in the BB is a habitual raiser. He has raised 3 of his last 6 hands. He raises to $3 in the BB. Folds around to guy who likes to call raises a lot. He calls. I have 66 and have both guys covered. I reraise All-in. Both fold and I pick up an $8 pot. Do you like this ? Is this what Reuben and Caffione would have done ? Thanks

To be honest, reraising all-in with 66 is really just a steal that you might as well do with any 2 cards. You're only a slight favorite against just about any 2 cards (since they're probably overs) and with 2 players in, you're probably about a 2:1 dog. What is their post-flop play like? Would they bet AK or something like that unimproved out of position? If so, I don't mind the play, but it's really not something that I'd do.

Stack sizes? If you have more than $30, no. If you have less than $10, yes. If you have in between $30 and $10, probably not.

In a tourney, there are more things to consider, given certain situations and certain skill levels, but in a cash game u don't even have to think here, much less not thinking twice. 2:1 on ur money holding the 1 hand that not only can make the nut class of every hand, but it also can take on all but 2 starting hands being no worse then a coin flip or 4:5 dog. But if u need more....love seein that table fold as an indicator that the A's & K's are still in the deck. Only if there was a caller do u start to think. Strong play.
