Default PS 2/4 Blind Defense?

I had been playing extremely tight up to this point and had been giving up my blind a lot to Button's PF raises. .once the SB just called I decided to try and steal. Thoughts?

SB ($330.40)
Hero ($408.70)
UTG ($242.85)
UTG+1 ($348.05)
MP1 ($400)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">5 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to $12</font>, SB calls $10, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $52</font>, Button folds, SB calls $40.

Why did you try to steal because the SB called? Bluffing 1 player = higher % chance to work than bluffing 2.

actually it makes it look less like a steal due to the fact that the SB called.

The SB is probably weak, and you can hit the breaks if he calls. The SB's call is a lot like putting dead money in the pot, letting you win more if your bluff is successful. If the button regularly steals, this is a nice play. Just dont do it too often.

I honestly don't think his opponents are thinking about that.

what on earth would make you say that?
do you know them personally?
or do you just think they are too idiotic to realize the difference between someone raising heads up vs. raising in a multiway pot?
