what do you think he has?

[/ QUOTE ]

I guess my thinking at the time was that he either had a slightly larger ace or possibly a naked [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

I think the cold call PF says a lot, and I really considered it a higher ace (most likely AJ or AQ).

I also hated the fact that I would be calling down if I did call the flop bet, ready to fold when any heart hits. The pot wasn't extremely big at all, either. I think I was getting 9:1...

Most people who cold call a lot aren't very selective about their cold calls. Sure, if a 2+2er had cold-called the initial preflop raise, you could narrow down his hand range pretty easily, and something like AQs might not be a bad guess. But against an unknown opponent, that's giving them far too much credit.

No read on the villan, but I don't think it really mattered in this situation unless he was a maniac (which I didn't think he was)...

It matters a lot here.

Which types of players would you fold to and which types would you continue the hand against?

Players who raise because they view me as someone who can fold I will call down.

Players who will only bet or raise with a heart I will fold to.

It depends who I think has the potential to bluff.

I prefer cold_cash's stop-n-go line to any other suggested, and it's the one I take about 95% of the time in these spots without a read.
