Re: One boo-boo in Episode II....
I didn't hear the "out of 48" part.
Runner-runner is 989:1 when there are 45 unseen cards. It is 1080:1 when there are 47 unseen cards. In other words, from the rich kid's point of view on the flop, he needed a 1080:1 shot to win. Looking back on the hand (or in an all-in situation where the hands get turned face up), we know 4 cards plus the flop. Ergo, 989:1. |

I caught that, too, but I figured that I had mis-heard the line. It seemed to me that the woman raised and then said "call" when it came back around to her.

Re: Tilt epidode II, better I thought...
Well I like the show but the black guy is an annoying character. For some reason they give him the stupidest lines like "You think you got a read on me?"
A word to the writers of the series...as far as I know poker players don't talk about every aspect of their life in poker terms. You think if Hellmuth's kid gets suspended from school he tells him, "Son you have me on tilt. I'm gonna put you down to the felt for 2 weeks no t.v. and no dessert." "Now go to your room and don't frown when you turn away. Believe me I know bitch you got a million tells." Matador's daughter is HOT. |

Re: Tilt epidode II, better I thought...
I'm more frightened just by the prospect of Hellmuth having children actually.
The black guy seems to come from the "I'll mumble to make my lines sound more authentic" school-of-acting. Michael Madsen has been doing a lot of that as well...just doing it more gravelly. And, yes, they really do give him some terrible lines...but Eddie's lines are pretty bad too...as are the Matador's...as are Miami's ("i only date card-players. you just play cards...it's different")...as are the cop-guy's....as are the old-timer ring-leader guy who wants to get revenge on the matador...as are the casino president's....etc etc etc. The dialogue is REALLY freaking hideous on that show. But, as I stated previously, I agree that the 2nd episode wasn't as ultra-awful as the first. I too am curious what the ratings for this are. My guess is that they aren't what they were hoping for (considering how much they have over-plugged and hyped this thing). But I did have a guy on one of my party tables last night say something about being a 'card-player instead of just playing cards' or something like that....and I don't think it was in a 2+2-ish facetious sort of way. |
