Any decent clay chips for sale in a store?
Hi, all.
I'm in the market for a good set of clays for home game use one day -- something like Paulson's new release (if they take those damn "Casino de Isthmus" inlays off), Nevada Jack's Martini Club line, or TR King chips. But after all the posts I see here about disappointing order times, chips not matching up to their advertised look, etc., I was wondering whether it's ever possible to walk into a store and buy a set of high quality chips that you've actually seen and touched in advance. A place like the Gambler's Bookstore in Vegas, for example? Do they sell decent chips? (Living in the UK, another issue for me is shipping. I'd happily lug a heavy set of chips back from Vegas on my next holiday rather than pay for the trans-Atlantic postage and worry about whether customs will open the package.) Thanks for any pointers, -JTR. |

Re: Any decent clay chips for sale in a store?
I'm not aware of any stores that carry top-quality clays, but would be interested in hearing about one.
The best chips at Gamblers General Store in Las Vegas come from a fairly broad selection of fantasy chips --- made by RT Plastics, I think. I've purchased some of those, and really like the look and feel of them. But they cost about as much as Chipcos and the new Paulsons. You might consider getting samples of the various chips, then ordering them and having them delivered to you wherever/whenever you're staying on your next holiday to the US. That way you can still carry them back with you. |

I doubt there are many stores in the UK. TR King is in downtown Los Angeles. Dice702 and GGS are in vegas. Holdempokerchips is in Oregon. Most dont have store fronts though.

The only place I know of is a place in Vegas called Spinettis. They sell a range of poker chips & supplies. Their 'clay' chip selection isn't the greatest though - mostly consists of Blue Chip right now.
I dropped in & picked up some stuff last year - they were nice to deal with. Not much of a store front, but at least you can see/touch their product. Link to Clay chips Link to Non-Clay chips Anyone seen this Strip Poker Chip before? J5 |

I like the turf club chips. They just need some edge spots.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. Will have a look at Spinetti's and the Gambler's bookstore next time I'm in Vegas.
And good suggestion, Captain Lego, about getting a custom order delivered to a holiday address and bringing it home myself. I should have thought of that. |
