Default AQo hand

How's my play here? No read on anyone at the time. Too aggressive or correct to raise on the turn? I put him on KJ or QJ.

I doubt he bets the river w/ KJ.

If you put him on QJ why didnt you raise the river?

I think you played it fine.

Your reads and your play don't quite add up but well played IMO. Good hand.

I put him on that hand by the way he played past hands. He didn't raise preflop so I discounted AQ or QQ and this was reinforced by him never reraising me on any street.

But the fact that he was leading out each time finally got to me on the river.

My reads are easily one of my biggest leaks. I just didn't understand why he lead out, but never reraised if he had a better hand than AQ?

Strange play by the SB, but I would be more likely to put him on Q7 or Q10. Think your play is fine.

You have to keep in mind that a lot of people in the Party .5/1 game do not play logically. That makes it really hard to get accurate reads on their hands.

Trying to put somebody on a hand at this level is fine, but you have to take those reads with a gigantic grain of salt and realize that often you'll be shown something radically different from what you expected. Because your reads are going to be very imprecise, you should rarely be folding based on them.

Based on his betting, I'd have him on QJ or Q9. I think you played it fine, but why didn't you want to raise the river, too? He was representing a Qx hand and never re-raised you when the 10 fell, so you can assume he didn't have 2 pair at that point. I would assume that on the river, you were still ahead, so to me, a raise on the river is in order.

Villain showed 77 for a set.

Why he never reraised on the flop or turn is beyond me ...

He got me though.

Boy, I NEVER would have had him on 77! Guess he was slowplaying them. Had you raised the river and he come over the top of you, that would have clued you in that something was wrong. At that point, you have to call him down and, if you followed my advice, you would have lost an extra BB!
