Bay 101 - where does play become non-stupid?
I'm a NL online SnG specialist. I've read all the Sklansky tomes and SSHE but I've never really practiced my limit game, nor have I spent all that much time thinking about limit strategy.
That being said, I've been to Bay 101 an even 10 times now playing limit, and I've never come away down (not that this really means anything, but...). I played 3/6 and the last 3 times 6/12, and amongst the reasonable players there always seems to be at least one bigtime donator who plays every hand to the river, or thinks he isn't playing a hand unless he can get it capped preflop. Where does the play get reasonably competent? I can't imagine these donator types can play 10/20 much or for very long. Am I wrong? eastbay |

I don't know about bay 101 but where I play there are huge donators at the 10-20 game every night.

In AC the play gets considerably less stupid once you get to 15/30 but even then you can still get some great games....

I play in all of the games there, including the 80-160. I guess you could therefore say that there is no end to the stupidity.

It stands to reason that even really rich people can be awful poker players at any limit.

Re: Bay 101 - where does play become non-stupid?
I would say the median player in the 40-80 game is "reasonably competent". This means he sees a few too many flops, his aggression seems to be somewhat random rather than tactically targeted, and his hand-reading skills are not fully developed. You will also run into a handful of very solid players in that game who will run circles around the average 2+2'er. You'll never see anybody like this below 20-40.
