Where are the good live games in Las Vegas? I am planning a trip.
I am aware that Binions offers Omaha, Holdem, and Stud and assume that the games will be pretty good there. I would appreciate any other suggestions as far as casinos that offer those games in their cardrooms.

Most casinos with poker rooms offer holdem, and NL holdem. Stud games are rare. Omaha is even rarer. If you only play poker one place in Vegas then I recommend the Bellagio if you are an experienced player, and the Excalibur if you are not. I'll be happy to answer more specific questions if you have any. Goog luck in Vegas!

I have heard that most of the places offering daily tourneys are located off of the strip - is this true? I'm planning my first trip in the next couple months, and I just don't know where to stay to get the 'perfect' mix of hold'em, while still being able to enjoy all of the other Vegas experiences... I just got back from vegas and stayed at the Golden Nugget on Fremont. My friend and I fell in love with the Plaza, it offers 2-4 rings games and tournaments every 4 hours including at Midnight if your game for a late one. It is a very cool atmosphere, very "old school". When we go back to Vegas our first stop will be Poker at the Plaza.

You should check out the Mirage: juicy 6-12 and 10-20 action. (And higher stakes as well -- although far less juicy, in my opinion, as the very good players are sitting 20-40 and up, if they're running anything above.)

I would rent a car, they are cheap about $100 per week, then you have more options, and well there is more to do than play poker in Vegas. If you do so, avoid driving down the strip. Get a good map and you will see there is basically a loop around vegas, which makes it easy to get to all of the off strip casinos and even downtown.
For the strip I enter from Tropicana and drive to Imperial palce and park there to play center stip, i.e., walk to mirage, belagio etc. You can also get to it by back roads. For south strip take tropicana and park at the Trop or San remo and walk to Exhcalibar, Mandaly bay, Luxor, etc. Well you get the picture. I.e. drive to a central location near the palces you want to see and park. If you don't rent a car and you are with other people I would stay downtown, because there are so many casinos within easy walking. You won't have to coordinate with your group. The rooms are also cheap. However, there are only 4 poker rooms downtown. The downtown casinos are older and not so glitzy. I enjoy downtown. My next trip I'm at The Orleans with a buddy for a couple of days and then we will join his friends downtown at Main Street Station. BTW all the casinos downtown are so close together it does not matter where you stay, but the ones with poker rooms have poker room rates which you can ask for when you get there. |

Here are a few that come to mind: Luxor, Flamingo, Aladdin, Imperial Palace, Sahara. All of these hotels offer daily low-buy in tourneys. |
