Default Question for online \"pros\"

For those of you who play poker as their only source of income,do you find it hard to put in your required hours or hands each day?

I recently made poker my full time job and have found it difficult to put in my required # of hours each week.

It doesn't matter If i'm running bad or good, that doesn't have an impact on my wanting to play.

In fact I still want to play, I look forward to it each day.
It just seems that there is always something else I would rather be doing, such as spending time with my fiance, my daughter, or my friends, watch a movie, read a book, go to the gym, whatever.

I am not burnt out as I still look forward to playing and enjoy playing, doesnt matter If I'm winning or loosing.

Is this something I will adjust to over time?

Or do I need to get more disciplined and not be so lazy?

I strongly suggest finding a job until you can put in the hours and have the discipline. You're starting you poker career in the worst possible way.

It gets harder, not easier to put in the hours and/or hands.

Ouch, those were not the answers I was looking for.

In respect to the poster who suggested getting a job until I am able to play the hours I need, getting the time to play isn't an issue.

I recently sold my business where I was putting in 80 + hours a week, (3 hour commute each day to work) so putting in 40 hours a week in poker should seem like a vacation to me.

Is it possible that I am not used to all this free time and I am getting lazy? as I still enjoy playing. All this leisure time is something I havent had in about 5 years.

I was thinking that too.
If you have the money to do whatever for a while then go for it. Just leave yourself a reasonable bankroll for starting out when you're ready for poker. If you don't, you simply can't make a living playing poker without the discipline.

screw it, you havent had free time in forever. ENJOY IT!! Thats what life is all about, you are going to be dead someday, who cares if you put in 40 hour poker weeks. As long as you are putting in enough hours to make enough money to cover all that needs covering, dont be afraid to enjoy life. Especially since it sounds like you havent had alot of time to do that.

I agree with living life.

I had the same problem puting the number of hands per day as well, in order to rectify the problem I have devised a system.

I enter a multi table tournament and play it while im playing my limit tables. Not a huge buy in, but like 5-30 dollar buy in multi table, this will keep you in your seat playing because you have to play til the tournament is over. If I get knocked out, I just jump in another.
At the current time I 10 table, so 1-2 tables for tournaments and 8-9 for my limit games.
If you are a strong tournament player, it shouldnt hurt your hourly rate to add a tournament, its just not as consistent. when you win a couple its decent money, and tournaments are just fun.

Worked for me, thought I would suggest it.

Gl at the tables
