Default KK vs. randombuttonpusher?

Button is 50/11/.8

I'm including results because it is important to this post.

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (7 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, Hero raises, BB calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, Button calls.

Flop: (10 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, BB folds, MP2 folds, Button caps, Hero calls.

Turn: (10 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button raises, Hero calls.

River: (14 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Final Pot: 14 BB

Tactically, villain looks a lot like a set or 2 pair. I think my turn play was bad, but I think I have to see the river? Unimproved on the river, I was intending to check/fold?

Results in white below:
Button has 4h 6h (straight, eight high).
Hero has Kh Kd (one pair, kings).
Outcome: Button wins 14 BB.

This is NOT a bad beat post.

Everything points to nobody carries a semi-bluff that far - I'm beaten and I should fold at some point...

I can't get my head around when a villian makes a flop/turn play like this (the river is just inexplicable here). But I'm encountering plays like this with disturbing frequency, and not from players who've seen me make "big laydowns" nor from players whom I've seen pull this before otherwise.

So, after I make a note and play on, do I become a calling station against a player I've seen do this before - or do I risk folding the best hand incorrectly?

For that matter, if it wasn't for villian's baffling check-behind on the river - or had I folded on the turn - I would have been none the wiser. Am I just being results-oriented?

Your title says it all. Loads of betting and raising when behind and not a value bet to be seen.

Look to get more aggressive on the turn. It's either a raise or a fold here. Who knows, maybe you could have chased him. I admit that it looks like you may be behind, but the tip off may be his raising on the flop. If he really had the kind of hand you're worried about, he probably wouldn't have played it that way. This smells like a maniac who is trying to push you around at this point. Push back and see what he does. Of course, a lot of this comes down to what kind of player he is.
