Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
Your question is highly dependent on the desired live style of a player, and more importantly, the country where he/she is residing in.

i hear that in india if you win 1BB at 3/6 and only play 1 hour a month you can live like a king.

Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
I play 20-40 1/2 kill once a week and 10/20 1/2 kill once or twice a week. However, my main game is 5-10 FULL Kill and it's been more than adequate. The weak players and the kill are a good mix, whereas, in the 10/20 games the players are significantly better.
If I had to rely solely on the 5-10 FK game, I could guarantee $35k to $40K a year but would expect more. |

Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
this question is silly. i know a lady at my casino who plays 1-3 for a living. granted, she lives in her car in the parking lot and she lives off loaves of bread, but she is making a living.

Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
The guy sitting next to me at the 6/12 game at the Trop yesterday was admittedly semi-homeless (he said he wasn't from this planet so cut him some slack at least 10 times). He was drunk, and pretended (pretty well) I might add that he didn't know what he was doing and needed help. But trust me.... he knew. As I was leaving I told him I knew, he admitted he makes a meager living this way, so he doesn't have to beg. Smart guy.... to be honest I admire him for what it is worth. At least he is trying to do something.

Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
Was it the loud obnoxious "drunk" guy walking around with 2 coronas (I don't think I actually saw him drink from one) and contantly switching tables? He sat down at my table going on and on about wanting to "gamble it up", but played tighter than ducks ass.

Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
like many have said before me, it all depends what you consider enough to live off, where you live, what your bills are, etc.
When I was playing consistently, I could make a couple hundred bucks at the 3/6 or 4/8 tables in 5-8 hours. For me, if I did that 4-5 days a week, I would be fine. OF course you dont win every day, but I can cut down the losses quite well. |

Re: What is the lowest live limit a player could live off?
What does everyone consider the cut-off line for "a decent living"
Is it the standard "30k/year" or do you have some other perception. I played quite a bit of 3-6 over the summer and while I can't say I made enough to quit my job, I made enough to justify putting nearly my entire paycheck into the bank and live off the money I had won at the tables. I think if you can win consintently at at 4-8 to 6-12 you can survive on that alone. Granted, this would mean you would have to rely on your ability to win ALL the time. |
