Default Pocket Tens question

Would you raise preflop when you are sitting in BB with 3 other limpers in the pot.?

I'm still learning this game, but I'll take a stab.

Against standard opponents, i would say yes. If no one raised, it's less likely people have things like KQ, AJ, etc., that have a good chance to beat you. Most likely a zany menage of medium connectors and suited aces or small PPs or some crap. You have more than 25% equity and you're very likely going to showdown (barring the dreaded AKQs flop), so raise for value.

Anyone want to tell me how stupid (or brilliantly insightful) this advice is?

Are you all betting into overcards on the flop with 3 players to act behind you? I don't want to encourage people to chase with overs so I usually go check and autobet most flops.

you have far too much of an equity edge to not raise this preflop. i used to think like this...worrying about protecting my hand later, and not giving poeple the odds to chase. but, they will probably chase anyway, and you have to exploit you equity edge as much as possible. its much better to win a pot doubled in size, rather than winning a small one because you controlled the pot size so they wouldnt have the correct odds to chase. think of equity, not pot odds, raise them tens up.

You're probably right, assuming the raiser has enough sense to not overplay the hand when overs fall
